Day 7

Today began with better weather. It was sunny and we decided to go to Villa Borghese again. When we did the walking tour with St. John's, we didn't get a chance to spend much more than a few minutes at the park, so today we wanted to explore more of it. While the weather was beautiful when we started out, after about 15 minutes, the weather pulled a complete 180. So exploring the central park of Roma will be for another day.

Near the entrance we took these pictures...

Throughout the park the walkways are lined with statues of famous individuals throughout history (almost exclusively Italian).

The rest of the day included more rain, so we used it as time to catch up on lectures. Our first local classes begin tomorrow at the less than perfect time of  8 A.M.

We took another trip to the grocery store to try to save a little more money by cooking in the dorm. While our group dinner went relatively well, it was cut short by the next group who signed up for the kitchen after us. This time we decided it might be more practical for Jazz and I to cook together. We decided to make shrimp, pesto, peas, and parmesan pasta. Oddly enough I think this was one of the best meals we have ever cooked.

Here are a few pictures of the kitchen and its view to the street.

Gelarmony is our favorite gelato place so far. They serve Sicilian style gelato, which from my understanding is somehow different from normal gelato.  Although the gelato place is named Gelarmony, they serve much more than simple gelato. There are cannoli's (Jazz's favorite), warm brioche buns filled with the gelato of your choice, crepes filled with nutella, and of course gelato in cones and cups. So far every flavor we have tried has been great, but we keep going back to get the cannoli gelato, which is almost like eating a bowl of cannoli filling, only not quite as heavy.
